About the Gospel

What is the Gospel?

We believe that the Gospel is the central truth of the Bible, the foundation of our faith, and the fuel for the Christian life. The Gospel is the good news that while we were dead in our sin, God sent his son Jesus to live a perfect life on our behalf, die a substitutionary death to pay the penalty for our sin, and rise again from the grave to offer us new life in his Spirit.

Acts 2:22-2:39; Galatians 3:13; 1 Corinthians 15:3- 15:1 Corinthians 8; 2 Corinthians 5:21

What We Believe

These basic doctrines within Connection Church's Statement of Faith represent what we believe to be core elements of biblical teaching.

The scriptures, which include the Old and New Testaments, are divinely inspired and represent the infallible and authoritative word of God in all matters of faith and conduct.

2 Timothy 3:15; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21

We believe in one God eternally existing as one essence and three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, each of whom is fully God, yet there is one God.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven. He is now seated at the right hand of God the Father and will return to earth in power and glory.

Luke 1:31-35; Hebrews 7:26; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 10:12; Revelation 19:11-14

Man's only hope of redemption is through the blood of Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, when we trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and we are cleansed from sin through repentance and regeneration of the Holy Spirit.

John 3:3; Luke 24:46-47; Romans 10:13; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 3:5-7; John 6:63

The Holy Spirit, our abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide, indwells and empowers every believer in Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:11; Romans 8:26–27; John 14:16–17; Isaiah 61; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:10

We believe the church is the body of Christ, the fellowship of all believers. Christians have been called out from the world to obey the teachings of Christ and serve as His ambassadors and co-laborers.

Matthew 18:18–20; John 15:19–20; Ephesians 1:22–23; Ephesians 5:23; 1 Corinthians 3:9; 2 Corinthians 5:20

Baptism is a demonstration of a person’s union with Christ in the likeness of His death and resurrection. It signifies that a former way of life has been put to death. While we recognize that the act of baptism is observed in varying ways amongst different fellowships, it is our conviction and practice to baptize new believers by immersion.

Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47

The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience in which we partake of the bread and the fruit of the vine, remembering the death of Jesus and anticipating His second coming.

1 Corinthians 11:23–26

There will be a final judgment and the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting separation from God.

Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43–48; Revelation 19:20; Revelation 21:8
